The LoDown: No. 3

26/06/2018
Okurrr (a little Cardi B obsessed right now) dont mind me. I know it’s been a minute- but we’re back and I’m ready to give you the latest on The LoDown. On this week’s episode we’re talking about my staycation in Orange County, more restaurant recs, the best spot for an outdoor movie in LA, and my regretful trip to Vegas  (lol).

Outfit deets: I quickly changed this day look to a night look and was so freaking proud of myself. My favorite pieces are the Addidas memory foam shoes (thats right you feel like youre walking on a cloud) and my high wasited white pants that I finally got altered so now I can wear them- wahoo!!

Day Look:

Night Look: (I’m linking up my favorite event heels- they just went on sale for $50) mine are super worn down so this is my excuse to get a new pair, ha!

Last Weekend:

On Saturday we celebrated my friend Devyn’s birthday.

Devyn and I spent the day at Malibu Farm which is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in LA. The food is bomb and it overlooks the ocean. It was a gray day (June gloom is real, y’all) but I kinda liked it that way. There’s something peaceful about a gloomy day by the beach, or maybe I’m just depressing- haha! But those things make me happy.

Anyway, we went out that night to EP & LP which is one of my favorite rooftop bars. I had a Moscow Mule- my go-to drink. It was probably one of the best Moscow Mules I’ve ever had. I know, so dramatic. I usually cap it at 2 drinks because I’m a whopping 4’ 11.5” and that’s typically my limit. Unless it’s wine.. the limit does not exist with wine.

On Sunday, my friend Olivia and I packed our bags to head to Huntington Beach for a staycation with the Kimpton Shorebreak. I will share a whole post dedicated to that trip this week, but man, it was exactly what I needed. We were only gone for 24 hours but sometimes just even driving an hour away and getting away from the chaos makes all the difference. We ended our Sunday night by feasting at their hotel restaurant (brussel sprouts, noodle bowl, calamari, guac, dessert & drinks) popping a bottle of Rosè in the room, and having a dance party. It was the ultimate girls trip. I miss it already.

Monday

Olivia and I biked by the beach and had lunch Simmzys in Hunnington. It’s such a good burger joint, and their fries were bomb. That’s how I determine if a restaurant is good. If you mess up the fries, we’re done!
We drove back before rush hour because LA traffic is the worst, and I pretty much layed down the rest of the day because I was so tired.

Tuesday

I worked bright and early on Tuesday morning for a marketing company, then spent the afternoon writing an entertainment article for the entertainment company I work for, Talent Recap, then spent the rest of the day catching up on emails, working on my blog, and submitting to talent projects. I managed to get to the gym for an hour, then came back and worked till dark. These are what a lot of my days look like- I work in multiple industries so I have to divide my time up. Most days are spent pounding away at a computer for 8-10 hours- just the reality and unglamorous part of building your own business. I’m secretly a workaholic, so I actually like it, but some days it can be a bit overwhelming.

Thursday

I skipped over Wednesday because it was just me emailing/working on my computer literally all day. Except in the evening I went to one of my favorite spots, Laurel Hardware, for dinner. We got the spicy shrimp, pizza, and brussel sprouts for dinner. Oh and wine, that’s always a must. My go-to wine is usually a Riesling.

On Thursday, I took a workout class in the morning, then worked from home the rest of the day. In the evening, I got invited to an outdoor movie in DTLA by an entertainment PR company. I seriously love these kind of events, and if you followed along on my Instagram Stories then you could probably see I was on a HYPER HIGH. My friend Chanel and I watched The Greatest Showman with probably 100 other people on the prettiest DTLA rooftop and it was a sing-a-long. We were dancing, singing- the whole shabang, and it was so. much. fun. You have to try this in your city. I’m now obsessed and want to go every week.

Friday and Saturday

Where to I begin with this one? My friend Naj and I went on a spontaneous trip to…well, Vegas. We went with a few people, because we decided we never do young & fun things and we were trying to be young & fun. I’ve been to Vegas before with my parents. I think Vegas is a great place if you’re with the right people, but we got there and realized quickly that the people we were with wanted a much different Vegas experience than we did.. so we legit booked a flight home and left. Honestly, its one of those things where you just have to stay true to yourself & not compromise your values + beliefs. I won’t get into the whole thing, but I’ll just say it wasn’t our vibe and I’m glad we got out of that situation. After we booked our trip we were so excited and enjoyed a few hours by the Caesar palace pool. I found some Celine posters and legit tried to take a photo with each one. I love Vegas for that reason- Celine’s face is everywhere! Love that woman. If only I got to see her perform, but she had to be in a different country. That would have quickly changed my Vegas experience around, ha!

Oh, and I ordered a pizza that was literally larger than my body. And I ate it all…. success?

Sunday

I drove to Santa Monica to meet Naj for the Summer Solstice Festival on Main Street. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday, especially after our Vegas fiasco. I drove a Bird for the first time (they’re these electric scooters all over LA) and did Acro Yoga + got my first tattoo! Just kidding, it comes off in the shower, haha. Probably didnt fool you on that one. All around a great day that ended with me in the In N Out drive through.. by myself.. scarfing down my food in the car on a side street. Why does that sound so familiar? Probably because it is- whoops.

Well there you have it- the last week in a nutshell. Stay tuned for more shenanigans next week!
