Hello my friends,
2020 is fully underway, and we’re already nearing Valentine’s Day. It’s time I let you in on my little fashion secret for the one thing that tends to be a pain when getting dressed for special occasions: undergarments.
It can be so confusing and uncomfortable to figure out which undergarments to wear with outfits when they have plunging necklines or are strapless, backless, etc. So, I present to you: My Ultimate Undergarment Guide. I’m going to list all sorts of dress situations and show you what I’ve found works best for me. These items are in partnership with the line Natori. They create such well made and versatile undergarments that work with so many different outfits. Here we go!
I recommend: Feather Underwire Plunge Strapless Bra in Black or Café
I highly recommend getting a solid strapless bra to go with your one shoulder, thin strap or strapless tops. There is nothing worse than having to pull up a strapless bra throughout the night. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I have this one in the Café color and although I love it in black too, I typically go for nude pieces because I get more use out of them. I love the lace detail and how comfortable it is. I mean, the reviews on their site for this one says it all. It also comes with straps so if you want them, you can get the best of both worlds by applying normally or crisscrossing them. This bra is versatile which makes it a great investment piece. Also, if you’re looking for one without the lace, I recommend this one or this one.
2. White/sheer clothing
There is nothing worse than feeling self-conscious in your outfit. So many fabrics come out to be very sheer and it helps to have something underneath to add extra lining. I recommend the Affair Slip or the Affair Cami if you need something just for the top area. It gives you a nice plunging neckline so that you don’t have to worry about it interfering with your dress/outfit. I also love the Affair Half Slip for added lining and pairing it with a standard bra or bralette.
3. Plunging Necklines
I recommend: Nature Ruse Underwire Convertible Bra
Not only is this bra great for plunging necklines, but it’s versatile so you can rearrange the straps. I love the fit, material and comfort level. There is minimal padding but the underwire gives a lot of support, which I personally prefer for comfort and natural shape.
4. Halter tops
I recommend: Euphoria Front Close Bra
By far my favorite type of bra because they generally are the most comfortable and offer the best support. I hate having padding in my bras and this one comes without, which adds to the comfort level. I wear these with most sweaters, high neck tops, plunging necklines, and halter tops.
I hope this gives a great basic guide to building out your undergarment wardrobe. I know it can be tricky, but having these options help make your life easier. Feel free to leave any questions in the comments below!
